District Summer Camp

Saturday 27 July 2024

We will be taking our young people on a district camp for a week of outdoor activities. This is a major part of our programme to teach children about the environment, co-operation, teamwork and sustainability, as well as being exciting, memorable and fun.

We will spend the week under canvas, with children organised into small groups, each group responsible for camp chores such as cooking, washing up, camp hygiene and so on. This element of the camp encourages children to co-operate and work as a team to make sure that everyone contributes to providing the necessities of camp. In addition, we will have a programme of activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, orienteering and swimming, campfire cooking and singing, bushcraft, games, craft and camp show entertainment (drama, poetry, music and singing). The whole experience gives children and young people the most exciting and memorable part of their time in Woodcraft Folk. Our aim is to have great fun, but also to develop children's self-confidence and build awareness of the world around them.
